Guatemalan hot fruit punch

 

Guatemalan hot fruit punch pictureIngredients:
1 small pineapple
1 small papaya

4 apples
1 stick of cinnamon
1 package of mixed dried fruit (raisins, apricots, prunes, etc.)

Sugar to taste

Preparation:

Bring about 3 quarts of water to boil with sugar and a stick of cinnamon. Finely chop the fresh fruit and larger pieces of dried fruit. Add the fruit to the water and simmer for a half hour. Add more sugar to taste. Serve hot in cups with fruit.

 

Optional:

  1. Add one ripe plantain and a coconut cut into small pieces.
  2. Wash the pineapple very well before peeling and add pieces of the pineapple skin to the boiling water. Remove before serving.
  3. Boil hibiscus (rosa de Jamaica)—available at some Hispanic grocery stores–in water in a small pot and add it to the punch.
