At Potter's House Association, the "scavengers" of the Guatemala City dump are viewed as Treasures. We believe that each of these is precious in the sight of God and that each deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. It is our desire that each of these Treasures learns to see himself or herself the way God does—as a beloved child for whom He sent His Son to die so that they might have eternal life with Him.
Treating these beloved children as the Treasures they are has done more than just raise them above the garbage; their stories have impacted us and our partners in ways that have surprised us and transformed us. It is a beautiful cycle that continues to perpetuate itself and transform the Guatemala City dump into a place of hope.
If their stories resonate with you or stir you to be a part of changing their plight, we encourage you to consider becoming a partner.
